The one thing stopping me from using this thing more is the colour, and background. I know we like total war games but I think we should just opt for a more subtle layout, and especially not a black background. Something more professional. The different coloured names are really hard to read with this black background. A simpler more practical scheme would be great.

I do tend to agree that although the picture of total war in the background is nice it does tend to make things a little confusing on the eye to people who are new to the site and the different coloured names are difficult to read.
I think a solid colour behind the text would help, I remember when I first logged on to the CA site I found it quite confusing at first and it was off putting as I was a new pc gamer at the time. I found the site initially rather difficult to navigate.
I think it is sensible to make the site as inviting and easy to use as possible in order for it to become popular with all the CA members now and in the future.

Kid friendly? What are you chatting?
I agree with Justy, (had trouble reading your name because the blue is impossible to read). A simple solid background, maybe a Khaki scroll kind of theme to keep it japanese would work a treat.

It took me several days to figure out this site, the "new posts" at the top of the forum is nice, but its location at the top of every thread makes it hard for me to tell when I open a page if I'm in a thread or in the forum about to open threads.
remove it from the threads, and move it into its own box to the side of the forum page are my ideas.

If we change the forum, there are several things I would like to see:
1. A more simplified background. example: steam
2. A more minimalistic nature of the site. There are way to many buttons on the homepage, they need to be organised in a few maps.
I am no programmer or some sort, but I think these are easy made changes. I have to note, that I like the site itself and that I am used to the site. When I first joined, I had no idea where to go and what every button was.
