This is on a galaxy ztec 1.8 or 2.0 cant rember tdci its also like 07 or 57 plate if tht helps
well we have this total problem job in work wich weve had all types of ford specialists looking at ect this fault is loss of power it only happend to the guy after towing his caravan
it came in with lack of power fault codes said was egr so we replaced EGR and no codes but still the fault so far weve done...
1.PCM updates
2.replaced pcm
3.changed wireing looms
4.changed turbo 3 times
5.done all sorts of wirein checks
6.tryed adjusting it so turbo gives more boost
so far still the same.... any ideas? it also now gives out no fault codes or anything think engine mangement light comes on tho cant rember not my job

il try that but i dont know its strange fault in my opinion i thought might of been gearbox problem or his caravan being quite heavy worn clutch out but apartly that couldnt cause it i heard maby a blocked exhaust could cause this or something internal off engine but then it doesnt make any knocking noises or anything

If the engine management light is on then only solution and probably the way to solve loss of power problem would be to take the car to a ford dealership so they can connect the car to their machines to reprogram the Brain of the car so as to put engine management light off and maybe their machines will also show up the loss of power fault.......cars these days are all electronically run, so unless you have the correct machines then fault finding can be a pain in the ass and sometimes impossible.......it's not unheard of for a car to develope a fault, and even with all the latest machines and stuff to reprogram the electronics, the mechanics still can't fix the problem and customer has to get a whole new engine for the car.....happened in a garage i worked in....a volvo agency......the customer started to have a fault in his car.....they put the car on all the computerised machines, yet couldn't find the fault.....so customer got brand new engine for his car.
Cars nowadays are far too advanced.....electronic this, electronic that. Give me a car with spark plugs, leads, distributer cap and coil anyday over these computerised pain in the butt and hole in your wallet cars that are prone to breaking down and cost an arm and a leg to fix.
Oh by the way...check it's not something simple.....maybe an air intake pipe has come loose....or one of the modules has broken down......also take car for a test drive to check it's not losing power without towing anything. I'm saying about the air intake pipe as my Renault megane's air intake pipe came off while driving and it was like the accelerator had jammed on.......yet after i stopped engine it wouldn't start again.....it was chugging like a cow...lol Put pipe back on and all was well........also it could be a module broken......usually a module (relay) next to the electronic brain of the car....those square or rectangular mudules with the 3 copper prongs on them. That's all i can think of.....not a mechanic....i was a panelbeater spraypainter.....but do have some knowledge of car engines. found this site pointing out faults and the solutions

Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDi upto 1999
Problem: Complete loss of power.
Solution: This problem may be caused by moisture ingress into the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. This can cause a reduced supply of intake air and therefore a loss of power. The solution is to fit a revised intake air duct and a new MAF sensor. A revised intake air duct has been used in production since 08/1999.
Ford Galaxy 2000
Problem: Lack of power from, or failure of, the A/C system, with or without leaks at the evaporator.
Solution: Severe air pollution combined with a high level of sulphur dioxide and moisture ingress through the pollen filter may cause this, leading to corrosion on the evaporator. Install a new evaporator and a modified pollen filter (activated carbon) to rectify the problem; after having checked that a revised pollen filter frame and additional foam filter have been installed.
Ford Galaxy 1998
Problem: Power loss, especially in first and second gears.
Solution: Probably caused by a vibrating engine cover damaging the PCV hose leading to the air intake tube. Install a new damping element under the engine cover to rectify the problem.
Here is a few other things to try:
1. the valve in the exhaust manifold could be faulty (causing exhaust intake or outlet to be wrong) = loss of power
2. try replacing the coil pack...or at least check the power switch that is connected to the side of the coil pack is secure (read on another site that this caused loss of power) the switch looked in place but in fact had a loose connection. = loss of power.
3. deisel filters or jets clogged up......deisel heaters faulty. (causing fuel mixture or temperature fault)= loss of power.

wow it could be anything mate, being a new motor also as hawk said theres a shit load of sensors etc more computer crap than my gsi and that can be a pain at times.saying that its getting to the age now were things start to go wrong and now has to be mot'd.
i was looking at stuff the other day about egr valves, far as i know on vauxhalls they can be cleaned like the icv so wasnt any need to replace it.sometimes fault codes are not always the route of the problem as ive found out in the past week,it could easly be something small/stupid stoping other parts from doing there job making the ecu think a certin part is at fault and flashing the eml.
anyways you say the egr valve has been changed, and the eml is not flashing..eml can stop flashing because of two things the problem has been fixed or the ecu has been reset, most people reset the ecu after trying to solve a problem and i guess thats what you guys have done...once the ecu has been reset the car needs to be at runing temp and also taking for a test drive for a few miles to see if the code flashs again as sitting idle in the work shop wont be good enough.
all wiring etc has been checked it could probaly be a some sort of a fuel problem, the car is 3 years old now have you checked the service records?when ruling out problems with cars you always start with the small stuff, and to be honest a car thats not been serviced at the right times would suffer problems like that.
do disels have cats???not sure but a petrol engine with a faulty lambda reading incorrectly would put more or less fuel into the engine causing a poor running problem.
hope that made sense mate my grammer is crap, the guys you are working with will be fully trained/have all the tools am just a diyer you might find more help on ford forums were members with the same car have had similar faults, what i do!.the above post is just some ideas, best i can do sitting at the pc

The last 3 options i said were taken from a ford forum that people had the same problem with new cars.
1. the valve in the exhaust manifold could be faulty (causing exhaust intake or outlet to be wrong) = loss of power
2. try replacing the coil pack...or at least check the power switch that is connected to the side of the coil pack is secure (read on another site that this caused loss of power) the switch looked in place but in fact had a loose connection. = loss of power.
3. deisel filters or jets clogged up......deisel heaters faulty. (causing fuel mixture or temperature fault)= loss of power.
Ford Galaxy= Ford Focus: if you google search for images of ford galaxy it shows ford focus....so i assume they are the same car.

probably fixed by reprogramming.......that's only way i can see it being fixed. Obviously if the cars computer thinks the turbo is 5 pin instead of 3 pin then it's an error that would need to be fixed by reprogramming....then again i might be wrong.
