Splat's Movie Corner

This is where you can:
• Talk about Movies!
• Share some Quotes!
• Share opinions on... The Movies!
• Figure out the meaning of life. It's 42!

Okay, so here is how this will work!
When bringing up a movie to talk about, just paste this code into the post box, and replace the temporary text with your information on the movie you want to bring up! For example, you would replace ("Movie Name") with the name of your movie!

Code: [ Select all ]

("Your Movie")
Summary/Comments: (Place Text Here)

( Optional: )

( A scene from the movie ) -
( Other comments/etc.. about the the picture(s) and/or video(s)

Here's a start to the discussions about Movies!
• Discuss the movie: Monty Python and the Holy Grail. (Yep... The knights who say kni!)

("Monty Python & The Holy Grail")

Yep. This is the section devoted to that one fucking hilarious movie.

In these youtube video's you might notice the characters mainly followed by the camera, (King Aurthur, and his men) "dance" as they walk. If you are questioning this like mad, it's because they are supposed to be riding horses, but they had to pretend instead of riding real horses. Hehe!

This Movie, basically makes fun of the story well known as, Kink Authur.
It does it with a classic English/Latin language, which they easily make fun of, extending the meanings of words into something completely outrageous.

What the hell? It appeares to be that I had pasted the same link for the killer bunny thinking it was infact, the holy hand grenade, I will have a fix for this shortly!

Monty Python (Additional Sketches)

These are some other sketches Monty Python had put together!
They are really funny!

Shadow, I doubt your parents have let you watch this, Monty Python and the Holy Grail?
I guess you wouldent need to see it to know true comedy, as you experience it first hand with that Hand Roller your moms got! Haha.
But seriously, see if your parents have the movie! The Monty Python team were British, 100% British!

Planes trains & automobiles

Summary/Comments: Steve Martin plays the tightly wound Neal Page, a bundle-of-nerves advertising executive. John Candy portrays the innocent and well-meaning, but accident-prone, overly talkative and somewhat reckless, Del Griffith (Director of Sales, American Light and Fixture, Shower Curtain Ring Division), a shower curtain ring salesman who seems to live in a world governed by a different set of rules from those governing Neal Page's marketing life.

The film follows the story of Neal Page as he tries to return to his family for Thanksgiving in Chicago after being on a business trip in New York. The journey is doomed from the outset, with Del Griffith interfering by inadvertently snatching the taxi cab that Mr. Page had hailed for himself. The two inevitably pair up later and begin an absurdly error-prone adventure to help Page get back to his home. Their flight from LaGuardia Airport to O'Hare is diverted to Wichita due to a blizzard in Chicago, which ends up dissipating only a few hours after touchdown in Kansas. When every mode of transport (including a train and a rental car) fails them, what should have been a 1 hour and 45 minute New York-to-Chicago flight turns into a three-day adventure. To complicate matters even further, on the first night in Wichita, an unidentified thief breaks into the poorly-locked hotel and steals almost $1000 aggregate from the two men and is not seen subsequently.

Neal frequently blows up at Del, blaming him for much of their misfortunes, including the robbery of the first night. These ravings are not all unjustified, as Del's carelessly discarded cigarette had ruined the rental car, melting all but the radio. Del in turn regards Neal as pretentious and uptight, while Del is less afraid to be himself. After much heated argument between the two men, a bond between them forms, and Neal finally manages to overcome his self-centeredness and both men pull together to finally make their way home, and Del acts like a more serious businessman to raise money by selling off his entire inventory of shower curtain rings, to kids and adults alike, who think they make good earrings.

I've just got a load of old war movies, not the running round through explosions and gun fire sort but some of the classics.

Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence (1983)

In 1942 British soldier Jack Celliers (David Bowie) comes to a japanese prison camp. The camp is run by Yonoi, who has a firm belief in discipline, honour and glory. In his view, the allied prisoners are cowards when they chose to surrender instead of commiting suicide. One of the prisoners, interpreter John Lawrence, tries to explain the japanese way of thinking, but is considered a traitor.

Trailer

The music from this film was awesome. Composed by Sakamoto Ryuichi and later used in the dance track Heart Of Asia.

Live version of the original.

The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)

The film deals with the situation of British prisoners of war during World War II who are ordered to build a bridge to accommodate the Burma-Siam railway. Their instinct is to sabotage the bridge but, under the leadership of Colonel Nicholson (Alec Guinness aka Obi Wan Kenobi), they are persuaded that the bridge should be constructed as a symbol of British morale, spirit and dignity in adverse circumstances. At first, the prisoners admire Nicholson when he bravely endures torture rather than compromise his principles for the benefit of the Japanese commandant Saito. He is an honorable but arrogant man, who is slowly revealed to be a deluded obsessive. He convinces himself that the bridge is a monument to British character, but actually is a monument to himself, and his insistence on its construction becomes a subtle form of collaboration with the enemy. Unknown to him, the Allies have sent a mission into the jungle, led by Warden and an American, Shears, to blow up the bridge.

Trailer.

To continue the these of films you have to see before you die.....

LEON (The Professional)

Leon (Jean Reno) is a hitman, one of the best in the world. His world is suddenly turned upside down when the family living next door are all killed by a bent DEA officer Stansfield (Gary Oldman). The only survivor is a 12 year old girl, Matilda (Natalie Portman) who is out shopping at the time. When she return and sees what has happened, she takes refuge with her friendly neighbour only to find out he is a "cleaner" for the mob. Eventually she manages to pursuade Leon into teaching her his art so she can avenge the death of her 4 year old brother.

One of Luc Bessons finest cinematic pieces. and Gary Oldmans most epic roles. The cast, story, soundtrack and performances are outstanding and if you havent seen it already, wtf are you doing still reading this?? GO!
