I know a few guys that have tried it, if you're paying for the electricity that's running the computer then it'll lose you money even then it's hardly worth it. Where you looking at the Butterfly labs stuff?

I looked into it a while ago. Maybe it was possible to profit from it in the beginning, but nowadays you can just lose money with it. You need a really powerful machine to mine any significant amount (they're even selling specific machines for this single purpose), and then you have to pay for maintenance. too (electricity etc., just like Colin mentioned). I think people who do it nowadays just do it as a hobby or for "the cause", whatever it may be.

Good topic Soulfly, tried it myself this week. It really isnt worth it at all. Electricity costs would just suck the life out of any profits you'd expect to make. Unfortunately for me, I have a GTX 680 which is a really good card for gaming but Nvidia cards are really shitty for Mining ( 120.0 Mhash MAX ) going off the bit-coin calculator I'd never break EVEN.

Am still fucking about with it, nothing serious and will probaly stop in abit. Slightly oc my gpu for 205 mhash lol. To get any decent results need to build a proper mining rig with least two gpus..Am not going to look at calculator yet, i know results will be shite lol
