Although personally I am quite content with existing explosives, I feel we must not stand in the path of improvement.

Well not sure if it is or not a quote, but guess its worth telling this aztec story when the spaniards tortured em:

Cuauhtémoc was tortured by having his feet put to a fire, along with Tetlepanquetzal, the tlatoani of Tlacopán. It is said that during the torture, Tetlepanquetzal asked him permission to reveal the location of the treasures in order to stop the pain given to them, and Cuauhtémoc is quoted to say with demise:

"Do you think I am in a bath or pleasure?".

This would be popularized in the 19th century as:
"Do you think I am in a bed of roses?"

Here are a couple from Sun Tzu.

Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories.

Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.

A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of colored ribbon - Napoleon.

He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice - Albert Einstein.

In peace, sons bury their fathers. In war, fathers bury their sons  - Herodotus.

The best weapon against an enemy is another enemy - Friedrich Nietzsche.

Wars have never hurt anybody except the people who die - Salvador Dali.

You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake - Jeannette Rankin.

.

Napoleon was cynical son of bitch so were all 'leaders'

“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

Hermann Goering

Being soldier on war is total act of stupidity IMO you will be lucky to come alive or in one piece and your wife/girl will marry other man after you a rotting piece of meat.It  benefits only elites - bankers, industry owners, higher army officials who steal and loot other countries. If people would understand this very simple fact there would no war.Germany lost 1/3 of territory and millions of young men at the same time German big industry scored great benefits from slave labour and army nazi officials got rich by stealing art and gold in eastern Europe.

Never tell people how to do things.
Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.

- General George Patton

No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country.
He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.

- General George Patton
